Final animation

This is the finished film along with the carefully timed piece of music we chose from- 'A guide to broad-casting.' Overall I feel this is a successful animation, with well thought out, researched imagery and good sequencing considering the time limit given. However, I think that if we'd have had another few days worth of experimentation then we would have found better ways to portray our images and ideas as a moving sequence. The inspiration gathered from particular artists has aided in our process, but I feel if we had spent more time researching the work of animators, film-makers and stop-motion artists then our ideas would have been more broadly informed. In particular I am pleased with the outcome of the piano sequence having enjoyed experimenting with the movement and positioning of the hands. I feel this section of the film is the most aesthetically affective part of our animation.

We felt this experiment was a success as the tongue movements worked well and the ink made the coffee stand out.

This was our first attempt at experimenting with the coffee cup and tea mixed with water. We felt the result of this was unsuccessful as the ''coffee'' was too diluted and runny.

With this experiment we tried drawing on the coffee pot and having the take-away coffee cup floating around the background. After trying this sequence without the take-away coffee cup and a coffee pot which was already drawn, we felt this experiment wasn't working as well as it should.

My first attempt at making a moving image of the 1950's looking men. I liked the speed and positioning of the men and so decided to keep it in the final animation.

Some research and quick sketches from the initial stages of the project.

Initial ideas-practising drawing hands

These were the hands we ended up using for the part in our final animation where there are hands playing the piano. Top right is also one of the coffee pots used for the moving sequence of coffee being poured into a mug.
